Anxiety is a normal reaction to danger often known as the 'flight, fight or freeze’ response. Anxiety creates adrenalin which rushes through the body helping it to cope when something feared occurs. However problems arise when this flight, fight or freeze response is out of proportion to the actual danger of the situation or happens when there is no danger present or as in a phobia forcing you to take extreme measures to avoid whatever triggers it. Other anxiety disorders include obsessions and/or compulsions, panic attacks or social anxiety.
Therapy can help you manage feelings of anxiety which can underlie everything a person does often seeming overwhelming and impacting on work and personal life.
